IT Solution/Technical Architect

We are currently looking to add the talents of an IT Solution/Technical Architect to our team. The Architect will technically lead IT projects, coordinating with various IT groups ensuring successful design, development and launch of systems.

• University degree with a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Solutions or Technical Architecture.
• Experienced in defining technical architecture, building technical environments, supporting software development processes and initiatives, software configuration and database management.
• Skilled in leading workshops and training sessions.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with people at different organizational levels.
• Ability to balance strategic design goals against immediate business objectives.
• Knowledge of leading-edge technologies (e.g. Internet and Intranet, web services, Java, .Net and object programming, application integration, collaborative computing).
• Experience in middleware tools for application interfaces.
• Sound experience using structured software development methodologies, ideally within the context of the IBM Rational Unified Process (RUP).
• Demonstrated ability in Object Oriented Analysis and Design using UML.
• Experience in defining business domain architecture, software architecture, project release planning, risk management, test management and quality assurance.
• Experience in multi-tier application development, including web applications and legacy integration.
• Wireless technology knowledge/experience would be an asset.

• Provide overall technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance of standards and best practices.
• Work with the team as the prime contact for architectural and design discussions in all areas.
• Develop technical specifications for systems development, design and implementation.
• Work with external vendors, as part of the project team, to ensure the solution is consistent, standards are enforced, and dependencies are clearly highlighted.
• Selection, installation, configuration and maintenance of third party applications.
• Work with the business analysts to understand the overall solution and its impact on the technical architecture.
• From time to time, some system development may be required.

• Service Oriented Architecture and User-Centered Design experience.
• Knowledge of Project Management skills and methodologies.
• The ability to speak both French and English.
• The ability to work at client sites in locations other than Fredericton.
